In Panama, you can see the sun rise and set on the same beach…or swim in two tropical oceans in one day... Have your own private island… or wake up to coffee and songbirds on a highland plantation.

In Panama, you don't have to go on vacation to go white water rafting today and sea kayaking tomorrow... Roam the cloud forest with quetzals or witness a giant leatherback lay her eggs... Scuba dive pirate ships and train wrecks...snorkel some of the oldest reefs in the Caribbean.

Two main Panama seasons: the dry summer spell spanning over four months from December to April is the major tourist season over the wet rainy season that runs from may to November. This applies many to the Pacific Southern Part of Panama. Panama being a typical tropical climate, rarely receives extensive spells of rain. Rather a heavy shower followed by a bright sunshine is more common. While towards the Caribbean side downpours are rather common, but reduced during the months of February/March & September/October. Darien receives the maximum rainfall in Panama. The lowlands and the beaches are normally hotter, with mercury levels recording between 21 and 32 degrees centigrade. The mountains and foothills are cooler with temperature lying between 10 and 18 degrees. Panama is located below the Hurricane belt. Panama has lately attracted serious interest worldwide as an ideal tourist spot, thereby extending the tourist season over a few more months.
Panamanian Currency: as Panama doesnt issue its own bank notes, the US dollar has been the official exchange since 1904. US coins exchangeable with Panamanian coins of the same denomination, metal & size are used. While the dollar bill is termed Balboa, the cents are called Centavos. Usually prices are indicated with a $ sign or a B before the amount. Its usually harder to change a large denomination dollar bill in Panama, if one has moved out of Panama City. Eve for $50 bills one could be asked to sign a register and produce his passport number. $20 bills are usually handy, but in countrysides, its advisable to carry smaller bills, as prices are lower there.
