US coins exchangeable with Panamanian coins of the same denomination, metal & size are used. While the dollar bill is termed Balboa, the cents are called Centavos. Usually prices are indicated with a $ sign or a B before the amount. Its usually harder to change a large denomination dollar bill in Panama, if one has moved out of Panama City.
